A lifetime of teaching has convinced Rena that art ability is a learned skill and that anyone can learn to create art if he or she wants to. She has been a teacher and potter since she graduated with a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Rhode Island School of Design. Since then, she has taught in both public and private schools at the elementary, middle, and high school levels, and has instructed future teachers at Rhode Island College. In 1990, she began conducting adult pottery workshops to help adults unlock their own creative spirit. She combines the skills of a teacher and artist to make her pottery workshops productive and personal learning experiences.
Pottery is an ancient art which dates back as far as 4000 BC and before the invention of the potter's wheel. Rena chooses to work in the tradition of hand-building because it enables her to produce unique and outstanding effects, unlike work done with a potter's wheel or a mold. Check out Rena's workshops and classes for activities directors, artists, beginners, children and young adults, families, gardeners, homeschoolers, retirees, and teachers.
