Raku Pottery- Discover your Creativity With Raku Clay
Learn about this Japanese pottery. It has been described as a technique, a specialized product, a state of mind, and even a religious experience. To a traditional Japanese potter, it is perhaps all of the above.
Make your own creations using easy hand-building methods (pinch, slab, and coil). Also learn how to glaze your work; Raku glazes are famous for the beautiful metallic luster and crackle effects.
ALL SKILL LEVELS WELCOME. Then go to Raku Rhody-O (usually in October) for Raku firing.
Time: One 6-hour workshop plus 2 hours on another day
Date: What day is convenient for you? How about 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on a Saturday or Sunday? (Bring a bagged lunch.) Plus an additional 2 hour class to learn about glazing.
Registration fee: $70 plus $35 materials fee (includes handout, clay, and bisque firing expenses)
Who: Beginners welcome--no previous experience necessary
